Ted Talon's "Suits you fine" (Gimmick Card & DVD included)

The magician hands the spectator an ordinary deck of cards to examine and shuffle.

The Story:

During this shuffle the magician tells a story of a lonely religious woman named Melissa, and a Murderer named Stanton. One night Melissa had just arrived from a church function. Stanton a troubled and evil man had been on several murderous home invasions. Heartless, he broke into homes taking peoples belongings and sadly eliminating all witnesses. On one particular night Melissa arrives home alone and flips on the light. Suddenly, she is face to face with this desperate man. Stanton with anger on his face took one look at her started to approach her, and suddenly without notice Stanton turned and ran out the back door. Shortly, after, the police caught Stanton and during their questioning, the police asked; Why did you not kill this last Woman that confronted you? The criminal replied, I wanted too, but as I approached her two of the biggest men I have ever seen stepped out from behind her flanking her sides. Each of them had one hand on the handle of a long sword. The police then questioned Melissa asking her if she knew of these two men. She replied I have no idea what he is talking about, I was all alone. - End of story

The Magic Trick:

The magician then explains the reason I tell you this story, is to remind you that everyone has guardian angels that watch over them. I am going to channel your angels, and ask them to select a card that they feel best suits who you are, and if you are in tune with your guardians we will all come to the same conclusion.

The magician then asks the spectator if they have completed shuffling the deck, if so the magician then picks up the deck and riffles through looking at the face of each card, and comparing the cards with a feeling by matching glances toward the spectator.

You then reserve one card from the deck, and without any manipulations, shuffles, sleights of any kind you place the selected card face down as the Guardian's card, you now hand the deck back to the spectator with no cuts shuffles or misdirections. The spectator is the instructed to deal down cards until they choose to stop. Once completed they are given the free choice to continue to deal down, or deal back up, or stop as they have. The spectator completes their free choice and flips their card.

You then flip over the Guardians Card which perfectly matches the card the spectator stopped at. You then say it looks like this card "Suits you fine".

You can now compare their selected Guardian card and match it to the personality card which gives the spectator a fun and rousing personality evaluation.

Suits you fine is mysterious, easy to perform, and lots of fun for everyone around. Great for Parlor, close-up or can even be modified for table situations, Suits you fine will come complete with a DVD, two separate live presentations, and the personality evaluation card.

The Set-up
I perform this effect in the hand of the spectator, it's much more powerful this way, and removes the suspicion and anticipation of when the effect takes place. The trick is performed nearly immeadiatly, but the story I use to encompass this effect ties this illusion into a nice neat mental knot. I start off by telling the spectators that I would like to show them a trick with romantically tied cards.

Very Special cards that I keep protected in my wallet. I then pull out my Jardonnet wallet where I keep my optic wallet inside the bill fold section, it fits nicely, and removes the suspicion that it is gimmicked in anyway. (Note: perform this before you perform the Jardonnet card to fire wallet routine)

The Story:
I start off opening the optic wallet to reveal the cards. I ask the spectator if they know where the Jack and 9 met? The answer of course is The CLUB. As they are suited clubs, chuckle. I tell them that this is actually a story of intrigue, mystery, and royalty. A story about Jack the son of a great King. Jack unbeknownst to his father the King has snuck one of his handmaidens into his bed chamber the 9 of clubs. Jack had to devise a secret way of hiding her, knowing that the King would have the maidens head, if he had ever found that his son Jack was sleeping with his concubine.. Jack designed a trap door that was secretly installed into his bed. And set a candle in the hall that would flicker the light on the shared ceiling, if someone were to walk past. This giving him enough time to trigger the trap door and hide his lover.

Once you tell this story you then ask the spectator to open their hand and to represent the bed chamber. You then openly retrieve the Jack from the wallet and place him face up in bed. I then ask the spectator to cover half of the Jack with with the other hand explaining that castles get chilly at night he needs blankets. (This keeps the spectator from turning the card over prematurely, and gives them a sense of control) You then knock on a table or door in a pattern rap rap a rap rapp! This is the secret knock annoucing her arrival, she lights the candle in the hall (Now remove this card under cover as explained in the trick and slip this card face down ontop of the Jack and underneath the spectators hand/blanket) and she enters the chamber and climbs under the covers. You then explain one night while they were in bed together the king came down the hall. (I hold my hand a foot above their hand with my fingers splayed open capturing the light and casting a shadow) This shadow represents the king and flicker of light from the candle, and as the shadow crosses the en-raptured cards I wiggle the fingers to show the flicker of light. You explain that the King crossed the candle and the light flickered. - I then ask the spectator if they felt that. The trap door was just activated. You then invite them to remove their blankets/hand. ( It's important to let them turn the card over without instruction) They will shreik in amazement, and then they will wonder where she went. Continue to hold onto your composure and reveal nothing, their natural curiosity will turn the second card eventually. This for the 2nd shreik of amazement.

Now you may retrieve the cards from the spectator, open your wallet and place the card back into the optic wallet, but in reverse lining up the secret. This shows the cards unchanged but protected. You then put this trick back into your normal wallet and start something else or close your performance.

The Optic Wallet is a simple self working working trick, but clever enough for me to develop a better performance and story to increase the power of this effect and add a lot more enjoyment for the spectator.

Description

Blindsight by Devin Knight has become a classic of Mentalism and many people have asked that I release a stage version. This New version Blindsight 2 uses Larger Cards and Envelopes and has a new Novel opening with a much stronger ending.

EFFECT: The performer shows an 8.5 X 11 inch Chart that has the names of four colors printed on it in different color links. The Mentalist / Magician will say he will attempt to confuse a participants mind. A participant is asked to quickly call out the color of the link that each word is printed in. Despite his best efforts, he almost always calls out the color of the ink that each word is printed in. For example if the ink is blue, he may say it's red. This is all very amusing to the audience as he cannot seem to correctly call off all the colors correctly!

The performer says that if the participant is having trouble correctly naming colors that he can see; perhaps he can do better if he cannot see the colors. The performer says he would like to try an experiment to see if the participant has the ability to detect color sight unseen. The performer shows four opaque envelopes and four different colored cards. The four cards are placed inside the envelopes, and mixed so the participant has no idea which envelope contains which colored card. Next the envelopes are placed in a row in front of the person. The performer asks the participant to attempt to use Blindsight (the ability to see colors, sight unseen in your mind) to determine which colors is in each envelope.

The performer then points to an envelope and asks the participant which color he thinks is inside. The performer then writes that color on the outside of the envelope. This is repeated until all the envelopes have a color prediction written on the outside of them. Each time the performer points to an envelope , the participant tell him what color he thinks is inside. Once each envelope has a color written on it; the participant is asked to place one envelope aside for the grand finale.

For a climax, the performer opens each envelope and shows that the participant has successfully used Blindsight to correctly determine which color was in each envelope. The performer has the participant pick up the envelope he set aside. He has the participant remove the colored card, assume it is yellow. Obviously, it matches the color written n the envelope because the other three were correct. This is pretty amazing in itself, but the real kicker is yet to come. Performer states that nobody could have known which envelopes and color the participant would set aside. The performer show the back of the chart (that has been in full view) containing the list of colors. The back of the chart is bright yellow and printed on it is: YOU WILL SET ASIDE YELLOW. This makes for a stunning Climax that can be seen from the Largest Stages. Blindsight 2 is a perfect Stage Magic routine for the professional Magician or stage mentalist.

Message from Devin Knight: After doing this for years, I have really improved the handling and have a killer finish. What use to be the weakest finish has been revised to make it the strongest and most desired finish. Also this can be seen from the largest stages and has a touch that gets the whole audience involve. You guys are going to love this new version. Magic Gremlins in a Box | Stage Magic Routine

Stage Magicians take note of Magic Gremlins in a Box!

This one is quite fun!

The performer begins by inviting a spectator on stage to share something very unique with them. The performer introduces a small brown cardboard box to the spectator with a label on it that says Magic Gremlins in a Box. The label resembles that of the old vintage comic book ads for such things as X-Ray Specs or Sea Monkeys to name a couple.

The performer begins to tell his audience that he acquired his Magic Gremlins by ordering them from an old comic book he had lying around in the attic... and low and behold this is what he received and for only USD $2.98 plus shipping and handling of course.

He tells the spectator that the box is indeed full of Magic Gremlins, however they are so small that they cannot be seen with the naked eye but they are so powerful that they can lift and move objects 1 million times their own body weight.

Now the magic begins! The performer asks the spectator to stand back and hands them a pair of sunglasses to wear, the performer also wears his own pair, and carefully opens the lid to the box and a green radioactive glow emits from within, gaining hilarious reactions.

The performer now places the box on a near by table and steps away as he says the Magic Gremlins can be very unpredictable if handled incorrectly. He calls over to the Gremlins to see if they are awake and ready to play. The box then begins to shake and rock from side to side and moves all by itself on the table top proving that the box is indeed full of real live Magic Glowing Gremlins.

The performer states that unlike Sea Monkeys, these small and adorable creatures can actually be taught how to perform real tricks. They are so intelligent that the performer tells his spectator that he has actually taught the Gremlins how to perform not just a trick but an amazing MAGIC trick.

Relic of the Revenant is quite possibly the most advanced, realistic, practical, and stunning Poltergeist Activity simulator ever created. This illusion is fully remote controlled, and designed for close up, stage, and parlor applications. No assistants required, and no special backdrops or lighting needed. A table top illusionette , that creates STUNNING VISUAL EFFECTS right in front of your spectators with a push of a button. FULLY REMOTE CONTROL! To see it, is to believe it!

The Relic is completely antiqued out with rustic hinges, rustic escutcheon, rustic handles and hardware. It is a beautiful piece to look at. It is also fully remote control with up to 4 minutes of programming and delays available. Sean Bogunia of Ultimate Magic Productions and of the Ultimate Dancing Hank fame built our micro chip boards to run the animatronics.

The entire Plexiglas box and supports fit inside of the relic. The Plexiglas box Is fully examinable. All objects may to be animated can also be examined or borrowed.

During performance the Relic is introduced, the lock is opened with an ancient key, the Plexiglas box is taken out, the 3 clear tube pedestals are placed and the Plexiglas box is isolated on top.

The Relic was found buried in the attic of an old Victorian house said to belong to the revenant ghosts of the ancient. The Relic appears to have great power and mystery that surrounds itself. A Plexiglas box has been brought along to test the powers of the relic under 'Test Conditions'. All objects and the Plexiglas box are inspected and are found to be ordinary. The Plexiglas box eliminates such factors as air, strings or wires, etc. tampering with the objects

Sample Effect 1- A pad of paper is introduced, a random sheet is ripped off and placed inside the Plexiglas box and sealed inside. You show a deck of cards, and a spectator selects one. A pen is introduced and placed inside with the sheet of paper. A ghost of your late great grandfather is summoned into the room with you, your audience and the Relic. With the remote you begin the magic on que from as far as 30 feet away. The pen mysteriously picks up and begins to write by itself in the center of the box over the blank piece of paper. This is truly eerie. The pen is put down by the ghost and the lid is taken off the Plexiglas box. The pen is removed for complete examination. The previously blank piece of paper is brought out showing something written on it. The message is the name of the chosen card!

Sample Effect 2- a photograph is introduced (or borrowed) of a dead relative. Let's say Great Grandma Abby. Her photo is sealed inside of the Plexiglas box after the Plexiglas box and photo are fully examined. The spectators will find nothing. The performer lights some candles and asks everyone to join hands around the table or in the audience. "We are to ask and see if Grandma Abby is here with us. If she is, can she move the photograph? Abby are you here? If you are here with us, can you please try and move the photograph." Sure enough, the photo jumps! "Grandma Abby are you really here?" the photo jumps again! "Abby, we would like to ask you some questions. Move the photo once for yes and twice for no. " Grandma Abby did you die in a car accident?" the photo flips over twice answering no. "Grandma Abby were you murdered?" the photo flips over once answering yes!!!! Etc. Etc.

The possibilities are endless, and remember this is remote control and fully programmable, it takes absolutely no skill to perform. All the skill is in the presentation. If you can force a card or push a button, then be prepared to scare the hell out of your spectators.

What's cool about Relic is that this can be sitting in your living room on display. Company comes over and says "What's that sitting over there?" You reply..."Wellll, let me show you"....

Totally undetectable, completely silent, small enough to do up close, and big enough to do on stage.

Never open a brand new deck of cards by yourself. Have a spectator open it for you, and let them realize that any card can be selected, signed, and then found inside a brand new sealed deck. Which can then be opened by your spectator. The revelation is truly astonishing.

Effect: A card is freely selected from the deck, and the spectator signs the card. A second spectator holds a brand new deck, still in its original shrink wrapped cellophane. The signed card vanishes from the deck, and appears Signed and sealed inside the deck, and can be opened by the spectator.

Robert Houdin inspired a Generation

When we think of magic today a few images come to mind. The most notable of course would be the late Harry Houdini. However, Harry himself created his character after the late Jean Eugene Robert Houdin known later as just Robert Houdin. Mr. Houdin the son of a watchmaker later became the most famous Magician of his time, and is revered even today as one of the greatest Magicians to ever live. Why? First off it was, because of his ingenuity as an artist and performer. Secondly, and most notably Robert Houdin is solely credited for preventing a war.

Harry Houdini adopted a part of his name, and the mystery of the illusions that Robert had mastered. Houdini really added a layer of popularity, and mystic to the world of magic. While also performing seemingly death defying stunts. Overall, it's clear that the popularity of Magic wouldn't be so, without these two Gentleman of Magic.

Magic is sometimes one of those overlooked arts that truly can change ta life. Magic can bring a child out of his shell, build confidence, develop strong coordination, and communication skills as well as receive the feeling of inspiring others. Now with the magic of technology, Magic has become accessible to everyone with an internet connection. Where once we had to travel to a Magic Store now we simply travel to our computer, or smart phone. There are many online magic stores now, and we set out to find the best of the best to share the fun. After visiting, and purchasing from nearly 40 different stores we selected 5 that we feel offer something special.

Online Magic Shops

Our first selection was really hard, there are many stores that offer a lot of exciting graphics, and fancy page transitions. But, we wanted to showcase the magic, customer service, and flow of the site. There are other sites out there that may have a better look and feel. But over all I was most impressed with the total package of all of these sites.

1) Nexus Magic Store - Nexus has a fantastic selection of magic from all over by multiple vendors. I am really impressed with the clean layout, and most of the product pages offer a video demo of the effect. And since the videos are hosted by Youtube it's viewable even by Smart phone technologies and with Nexus Magic's Large buttons, and very little flash; navigating Nexus with your smart phone is a breeze. Once you select your items you are redirected to pay for your order, most credit cards are accepted or pay with your paypal account. Now you can, learn about, watch demos, and buy magic from your phone on the go. That's Nexus Magics capabilities. Clearly, the 3g and 4g technology is the direction we are all going, and it's nice to see a website keep all of that in mind. And Customer service was exceptional to boot. (5 Stars)

2) Magic Whiz - This is a clean site not a lot of clutter and a decent selection. I did feel that certain products seemed pushed on you when you enter. I also noticed that they had a couple of links to direct you to Special Deals on Sale and yet there was nothing in that section when clicked. Overall this site is clean, but a little confusing. Customer service was good. (4 stars over all)

3) Eagle Magic Store - While this store is clean, and has an okay selection. I feel it is a bit too business for a magic store, and in my opinion I would say that the color selection is something I would expect from the Military not a Magic shop. I was also a bit chased off by all of photos of the owner. For a store to have been in operation for over a 100 years, I would have expected something more magical and less sterile. Service was just okay. (2-1/2 stars)

4) The Trickery - The state that they are the oldest online magic store, which may be true by the way this site flows. Not too impressed with the jumbled mess on the front page. I feel like every graphic is shouting at me. Click here! No wait click here! Click me! Please wait, I haven't been clicked forever please, please click me. Once you get past the front page though you can breath a little easier, though by not much. There must be 25 different fonts projected at you on the front page alone. Overall if you can tolerate the confusion, then this is a great site with tons of products with some hard to find gems. That is if you are up to the challenge to find them without getting a headache. Customer service was about the best part of the experience. I noticed that they say they are mobile, but clearly they are not automated to accept payment via mobile without calling them during business hours. So to me that's not Mobile. (3 stars)

5) Fantasma Magic - Fantasma this site sorry to say is very heavy, and as a result really slow. It really caters to young kids with the bright colors and the other types of toys that they offer. Fantasma is an example of too much design taking away from why we are there. To find some good magic efficiently, and not get lost or wait for the bogged down pages to load. One thing I will say that they did actually have specials in there sections so that was a plus. The service was substandard (2 stars)
